Siyi SUN - Flute

International Soloist
Faculty, Music Middle School Affiliated with Shanghai Conservatory of Music

Sun Siyi, a distinguished flutist, began her studies at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2012, where she was admitted in first place. She majored in Flute Performance. She has performed several solo flute concerts at the Chinese Culture Palace, earning widespread acclaim.

Sun has studied extensively with renowned flutists, including Vincent Lucas and Vicens Prats of the Orchestre de Paris and Catherine Cantin, principal flutist of the Paris Opera. In 2016, she pursued further studies at the École Normale de Musique in Paris, followed by her admission to the National Conservatory of Nice in 2017, where she studied with Professor Sibel Pensel. In October of the same year, she won the China Regional Prize at the Nicolet International Flute Competition. She graduated from the Nice National Conservatory in 2019 with a Master’s in Flute Performance.

In September 2019, Sun joined the faculty of the Music Middle School Affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she teaches chamber music. Since January 2020, she has also served as guest principal flutist with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with renowned conductors such as Tang Muhai, Tan Dun, and Li Xincao.

Her notable performances include a flute concerto with the Lanzhou Symphony Orchestra in November 2020 and a highly praised solo recital at the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall in April 2020 as part of Classic 947’s radio concert series. Sun has also worked with master flutist Maxence Larrieu, who commended her for her beautiful tone and passionate artistry.
