Audition and Dates

Auditions are a vital part of the IWAF 2026 experience, as they ensure that students are selected based on talent and potential, creating an environment of excellence and growth. Admission to the festival is audition-based, and merit-based scholarships are available for outstanding students. This process not only maintains high standards but also provides students with a unique and rewarding opportunity to work closely with world-renowned faculty, offering an enriching and unforgettable experience.

Application Open: November 1, 2025

Application Fee:

     $25 – Before January 1, 2026

     $45 – Jan.1, 2026 – March 30, 2026

Application Deadline: March 30, 2026

Application Review: Apr.1, 2026-Apr.15, 2026

Full Tuition*: $2889.00 USD

*All applicants will be evaluated for a merit-based scholarship. In IWAF 2025, 100% students received scholarships.

*Tuition includes lessons and masterclasses, performance venue, music, hotel, local transportation, and transportation of the ensemble tour.

Woodwinds:
  • Flute and Piccolo (5 spots total)

  • Oboe/English Horn (4 spots total)

  • Clarinet (12 spots total)

  • Bassoon (4 spots total)

  • Alto, Tenor, and Baritone Saxophones ( 4 spots total)

Brass:

  • Trumpet and Cornet (6 spots total)

  • Horn (6 spots total)

  • Trombone (4 spots total)

  • Bass Trombone (2 spots total)

  • Euphonium ( 2 spots total)

  • Tuba (2 spots total)

Percussion (7 spots total):

  • Percussion and Timpani
  • Percussion only, no Timpani.

Woodwinds

APPLICATION OPENS November 1, 2025

  • Resume required

  • Two letters of recommendation are encouraged but not required

AUDITION REPERTOIRE

ALL REPERTOIRE MUST BE SUBMITTED IN INDIVIDUAL VIDEO TRACKS.

Do not include your name in the video title or description. 

  • One movement from the standard solo repertoire of your instrument.

  • Two contrasting orchestral excerpts of the candidate’s own choice. (except saxophone)

  • A standard Etude of the applicant’s own choice. (saxophone only)

Auxiliary Instruments (Optional)

  • We highly encourage our candidates to make extra recordings on auxiliary instruments, such as:

    • Piccolo

    • English Horn

    • Bass Clarinets

    • Contrabassoon

    • Baritone Saxophone

Video Submission:

Applicants can upload their video directly during the application, or upload their video to a platform like YouTube or Dropbox, then submit the link in the application form.

Brass

Note:

Applicants may audition for either the Percussion Position or the Percussion and Timpani Position. 

General requirements:

  1. Percussion and timpani audition recordings can be submitted as a single track or as separate tracks.

  2. Please submit your video without editing.

  3. Do not include your name in the video title or description.

Timpani-Percussion Audition Repertoire List (IWAF 2026)

There is no specific timpanist position, but if the applicant would like to be considered for timpani parts, timpani excerpts must be included in the video.
